Tues 8/20: Progressive music from the UK and Italy in Ithaca w/ why+the+wires and BRIAN!
0 comments Posted by Bubba Crumrine at 12:49 PMTuesday, August 20th - 8PM / $5 at Just Be Cause, 1013 W. State St., Ithaca, NY (all ages)
WorldService Project (UK) and Nohaybandatrio (Italy) are in the midst of their "40 gigs, 40 days, 6,000 mile" tour - founded by Davide Cardea and Kathrine Fidorra (Megasound Records).
The fourth edition showcases the wacky punk-jazz of British quintet WorldService Project, and the progressive virtuosic rock of the Italian, Nohaybandatrio.
Locals BRIAN! will kick things off with a rare duo performance featuring four new pieces composed for bassoon, guitar, and voice. Elements of prog, math-rock, drone, and even cantor music come into play this time around.
why+the+wires headline, also showcasing new material and their tough to pin down mix of progressively angular, post-punk.

0 comments Posted by Bubba Crumrine at 3:43 PMKeep your mind-altering weekend going this Sunday as we a technically and creatively diverse line-up to The Haunt - 6PM | $7 | All Ages
Lazer/Wulf join us for the first time from Georgia - though their inner Zruda and ex-Gaylord bandmates are no new-commers to The Haunt stage. It's thrash, it's indie rock, it's jazz fusion, crust punk, and doom sludge and funk in 7/8... and just plain good music.
Georgia brethrens MANRAY also will hit Ithaca for this first time on Sunday. Imagine a beautiful exhale of math-rock, punk, hardcore, and metal into one seamless breath and you're getting there.

Live Video: why+the+wires, The Catalyst, Paper Mice, Our Daily Fix, Grady Stiles, and much more.
0 comments Posted by Bubba Crumrine at 12:46 PMWow! Quite a successful weekend of shows if I do say so myself. Friday, July 27th with Paper Mice, Our Daily Fix, Grady Stiles, King Sized Pegasus and Mouth To Mouth To Mouth was probably one of the most high-energy shows we've ever hosted at The Space. Sunday brought us brand new material off of why+the+wires upcoming third LP "All These Dead Astronauts" and absolutely crushing noise-rock jams from The Catalyst, who performed new material by their pending "Voyager" release (hope you were at the show to grab advance copies of the LP). Dionaea and Temuchin (congrats to Dan and Jackie on their new baby) were missed, but we were stoked on the last minute addition of Plasma 36.
Video from both Ithaca nights are below, plus clips from Living Room and Porches. are up from Mouth To Mouth To Mouth's trip to Suburbia in Brooklyn. The best time and hospitality were had, so kudos to the whole Suburbia crew. As always, check out the IU YouTube channel for tons more video here.
