Interview with Mikey (Megachurch)

Ithaca  Underground's Pete Ives gets the skinny from Mikey, bassist for heavy-wonders, Megachurch! Catch them with Clan of the Cave Bear, Crime Pays, Hiroshima Vacation, Ailments, and Dweeb this Saturday, at CSMA 3rd Floor.

IU: Where are you guys from?

Mikey: Cleveland, OH

IU: How long have you been together?



Mikey: We played our first show last year in March on Friday the 13th

IU: What are you all into outside of the band:

Mikey: Pinball, coffee, science-fiction, pinball...

IU: What made you want to start composing music?

Mikey: We had the idea of just using two basses and drums, after we came up with the actual band name we just took it from there.

IU: How would you describe your sound?

Mikey: Christian stoner metal from people who are neither christian or stoners.

IU: How do you become inspired, musically?

Mikey: Castlevaina, Metroid, Megaman, Sonic the Hedgehog, and early Metallica.

IU: What would you say is Megachurch's main objective, focus and goal at the moment?

Mikey: World domination. Or you know, get folks to listen to new our record

IU: How would you define a 'perfect show'?

Mikey: House show. Sweaty as hell. Bonkers.

IU: What's the funniest shit that's ever happened on the road?

Mikey: Compass-dick. really long story. Clan of the Cave Bear (who we're touring with) could maybe fill ya in.

IU: Will this be your first time in Ithaca?

Mikey: Yeppers!

IU: Anything you'd like to say for those who will experience you guys on May 29th?

Mikey:  Wear your Sunday best... and earplugs.
